Wacky Walnut Pizza from Pizza Therapy

Image
Wacky Walnut Pizza from Pizza Therapy Ok, to be truthful, there is nothing wacky about this pizza. The taste of the walnuts shine through on this very tasty pie. We created this by chance. And it worked. Ingredients or the dough: 4 cups of flour 1 teaspoon of yeast 1 teaspoon of salt 1 and 1/2 Cups of water. Mix ingredients together and knead for 6-8 minutes or until smooth and silky. Dough should be slightly tacky to the touch. If very tacky, add a bit more flour. If the dough is dry add a few drops of water. Put dough in a bowl or zip lock bag. Drizzle olive oil over the dough. (Don't completely seal the bag). Put the dough in the fridge and allow it to proof overnight. Dough can stay in the fridge for up to 4 days. Take dough out of fridge when you are ready to make pizza. Allow the pizza dough to warm up to room temperature. (About an hour or so) Makes 3-4 thin crust pizzas Ingredients for Pizza: 2-3 cloves of garlic (minced) 1/2 Cup mozzarella cheese ...

Slice Grills Albert Grande About Pizza Therapy...

Image
Slice , creator Adam Kuban, recently had a sit down interview with Albert Grande, of Pizza Therapy. Here's what happened: Pizza Therapy is probably the first pizza-obsessed website I saw on the web. It's like it was always there. But when did you start it? Pizza Therapy started in 1999 on a free hosting service. It ran that way for about a year. I purchased the domain in 2000. After I registered the domain, I moved the site to our own Internet server. It's been evolving ever since. Why did you start it? The site came about as a way to honor my dad. As we were growing up my dad would make pizza for me and my friends. This continued right through high school, college and beyond. He became known as quite a good pizza maker. (He was no pro, this was homemade pizza). He loved making pizza for me and my friends. Soon his pizza making became well known and it turned into a regular event. My friends and I would hang out while my dad made pizza. The conversations an...

Pizza Therapy: Changing Pizza Perceptions

Shhh. Listen: It's me, Albert Grande, The Pizza Promoter . I try to keep a low profile. Sure sometimes I tend be a little loud. And I have gotten carried away occasionally...but that is my personality. I can't help it. I'm Italian. I guess its a genetic thing. Most of the time, I just try to remain anonymous. Now don't get me wrong, I love eating pizza. I love writing about pizza and I love making pizza. But most of all, I love talking about pizza. Hey, don't get me started.  For most of my pizza adventures, I quietly enjoy my pizza. Anonymously. The other night while eating pizza with some friends I got a tap on the shoulder.... "Are you that Pizza Therapy  ( http://pizzatherapy.com/ )  guy?" "Well, yeah", I answered sheepishly. "I have to tell you... you changed the way I look at pizza." "Are you kidding me? I changed your pizza perceptions?   Pizza Therapy , changed the way you look at pizza? I asked. "Absolu...

DiGiorno Flatbread Melts: A Review from Pizza Therapy

Image
Let me make this clear: I usually don't eat frozen pizza. The operational word here is "usually". However, there are exceptions to every rule. Let me explain: Last week I received the following email: Hi Albert, I work on behalf of DiGiorno and wanted to tell you about our two new products – DiGiorno Flatbread Melts , microwavable sandwiches that are DiGiorno’s first foray beyond frozen pizza... Also, DiGiorno Crispy Flatbread Pizzas feature an extra-thin, crisp crust and topping combinations so unique – they serve up truly one-of-a-kind pizzas that you can’t get from delivery! If you’re interested, we’d be happy to send you a cold ship mailer containing both products to arrive at your home or office Thank you! Kate Kirkpatrick Of course I agreed to give these a try. The products were sent via Fed Ex in two extremely large boxes. The boxes contained styrofoam coolers, packed in dry ice. One contained two flatbread melts, the other contained a flatbread pizza. Yeah, they...

Discover the greatest Pizza Movies of All Time right here. I nominate Pizza, the movie by Micheal Dorian as a true standout. This movie covers all types of pizza, including New Haven, New York, Chicago and California Pizza. Dorian leaves no pizza box unopened as he tries to reveal the truth about america's favoirte food. Another nomination is the quirky, Driver's Wanted. This is a very funny look at the life and times of Pizza Delivery Drivers. A great film. I also give an honorable mention to Mystic Pizza. Enjoy... A Grande Wine Tale...

My Dad was a great guy. He had a huge heart and loved to make people laugh. He was a trickster and a prankster. He also taught me about pizza. He was Pizza Therapy. As a matter of fact Pizza Therpay was created in his honor. One of his favorite pastimes was giving away wine to his friends and workmates. But as this story explains, there is more than meets the eye. Enjoy: pizza on earth, good will to all! Thanks Dad, albert

My Dad Invented Pizza Therapy

Image
Albert Grande, The Mushroom King and Master Pizzaiolo My Dad Albert Grande , knew Italian food and Italian recipes. There was one thing he made better than anything else: pizza. When I was a teenager, my dad would bring home dough from a bakery, spread it out on a cookie sheet, smoosh on some stewed tomatoes along with garlic, cheese, basil, oregano and pepperoni. He would pop it in the oven and about 20 minutes later the best pizza in the world would come out. He sometimes made it when my friends were over and developed a reputation for making great pizza. My friends would ask for it regularly and my dad was more than happy to oblige. I soon realized that although the pizza was wonderful, it wasn't the pizza alone that brought my friends over. The pizza really became the basis for discussions about philosophy, values, and life in general. The event was a stepping stone for an evening of jokes and arguments about what was important in our lives. I started making pizza from scratch ...
